New York and London: G.P. Putnam's Son, 1927. First edition, "Author's Autograph Edition", one of 1,000 copies numbered and signed by the author and the publisher. Half japan vellum, gilt-lettered, over tan paper boards, decorated in gilt, "fully illustrated", 308 pp., uncut. "Out of the Night Came a Silver Bird Bearing a Boy Who Carried Letters of Introduction to Paris" (caption to the frontis illustration by Robert James Malone). Unworn, clean throughout, japan vellum spine a little toned. Ownership signature of "Elizabeth K. Forman", dated August 19, 1927. Lindbergh had landed in Paris just 12 weeks earlier. Miss Forman has copied on the bottom of p.308 and pages 309-310, blanks, in an attractive script, two contemporary New York newspaper stories, from the "Sun" and the "Herald Tribune". Laid in: the Putnam's eight page prospectus, with another copied story, unidentified, neatly written on p.8, a blank. Also laid in: eight or ten contemporary newspaper clippings. The volume in Fine condition, as are the ephemeral items.
