Broadside, printed in black, inside a decorative border, 7 3/4 x 12 3/4 inches. The first appearance of Harvard's official anthem, "Fair Harvard!", written for this occasion by alumnus Rev. Samuel Gilman (Class of 1811) of Charleston, S.C. The initial "Prayer" was given by Rev. Ezra Ripley (1776) of Concord, the "Discourse" by President Josiah Quincy (1790), closing "Prayer" by Rev. Jonathan Homer (1777) of Newton, and finally the Doxology, "From all that dwell below the skies..." and Benediction. WorldCat shows six locations for this. Folded once with tenderness there; paper tape reinforcement in six places along the edges and fold; a large piece torn from the top right corner with a little of the border missing; some toning and soiling.
