Original green cloth, lettered in gilt, decorated in gilt, green, and pink, top edge gilt, others uncut, x, 98 pp., a conjugate leaf of ads, and two leaves of ads inserted. Illustrated with 20 inserted color plates, "engraved and printed" after paintings by Helen Allingham, each with printed tissue guards. A presentation copy: "Alice L. Hordern from Lady Tennyson, Xmas 1905." This would be Alfred Tennyson's daughter-in-law, the wife of his oldest surviving son, Hallam, the second Lord Tennyson. The poet William Allingham and his wife the artist Helen Allingham were Tennyson family friends - the two men were introduced by Coventry Patmore in 1851. Moderate rubbing, slightly cocked, spine a little darkened. Moderate foxing to text, but the plates are clear. Very Good.
