for September, 1862. One complete issue in original printed wrappers. The former was reprinted in "Outdoor Papers", 1863 (Cambridge Public Library, Bibliography of Higginson, 1906). Gabriel, who belonged to a certain Thomas Prosser, "who had the reputation among his neighbors of behaving with great barbarity to his slaves" was "a fellow of courage and intellect above his rank in life", who led slave revolt in Virginia in 1800. Both stories unsigned, but Higginson is identified as the author of these two articles by his wife (...the Story of His Life, 1914). Some edgewear, Very Good.
