A printed document releasing an unspecified person from duty a assistant assessor in an unspecified district. Signed in ink by Tyler as Clerk of the Commissioner's Office, Board of Commissioners of the State of Vermont, in February 8, 1799. The Board was tasked with the valuation of lands. Tyler was a judge of the Vermont Supreme Court and a dramatist. He may have had a more brilliant career were it not for his undisciplined concupiscence, which resulted in several illegitimate children, including one from Sophia Peabody Hawthorne's aunt.
