Boston: J.G. Cupples, (1890). First edition, second printing, the first with the author's true name on the title page. Original white half-leather, lettered and decorated in red and black, and batik boards in a love-bird pattern. This printing also noted in cloth and wrappers (Brick Row Book Shop, Catalogue 120, Pt. 1). A tall copy, 7 1/2 x 5 inches, likely a large paper, deluxe copy. Fuller's first book (BAL 6462). The first printing was reviewed enthusiastically by Charles Eliot Norton and James Russell Lowell. It was reprinted several times and a "new, revised" edition came out in 1892. A little wear, some darkening to boards, paper a little browned. A Very Good copy.
