Letter one: Dated San Francisco, 24 Dec., 1878, apologizing to an unknown person but he is too busy to meet now, and promising to try again later. One page, glued to a slightly larger sheet - perhaps from an album. In Very Good condition. Letter two: Dated Washington, D.C., 3 Feb. '98, to a boy named Stephen, thanking him for some letters, and explaining the meaning of the "Saint Anthony" stamp he had sent on a package - to guard or guide the shipment on its way. He compliments Stephen on his penmanship and hopes the bitter winter weather is made pleasurable by lots of "slides, sleighs, snow-balls, snow houses and snow men." Two conjugate leaves, four pages, about 50 lines. In Fine condition. For the two letters -
