Original green cloth, gilt, ruled in blind, 409 pp. With the bookplate and ownership signature, dated Cambridge, 1928, of Arthur Meier Schlesinger, social historian at Harvard, long-time trustee of Radcliffe, supporter of the college's Women's Archives, a research library on American women and their contributions to the development of America (NY Times obit, October 31, 1965). The school renamed this library "The Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library on the History of Women in America" in 1965. His son was the historian Arthur Schlesinger, Jr. Edith Abbott earned a doctoral degree in economics at the University of Chicago in 1905. "Her 'Women in Industry' remains a milestone in feminist economic history." (online National Women's History Museum, mwhm.org). Spine darkened, light wear at spine ends. A Very Good copy.
