Contemporary red morocco, gilt lettered and decorated, all edges gilt, 116 pp. This battle was fought in 1514 between the English and the Scottish - James IV of Scotland was killed on the field. A presentation copy: "W.B. (William Beattie) to N.P. (Nathaniel Parker) Willis"; the later ownership signature of James T. Fields, and the engraved book plate of his wife Annie's nephew, Boylston Adams Beal. William Beattie (1793-1875) was a physician and a writer; his friend Willis wrote on British antiquities. Fields and Willis were acquainted and exchanged some cordial correspondence, but how Fields came to own it this book is unknown. Some soiling, spine ends a little chipped, most edges rubbed. A Very Good copy.
