Forty tales chosen and illustrated by Arthur Rackham, including twelve color plates tipped in. With an interesting presentation inscription: "Sylvia Hawthorne Smyth from her fexionate father, Christmas, 1919, The Wayside". "The Wayside" in Concord, Mass., once owned by Nathaniel Hawthorne, was at this time owned by Harriet Lothrop, author of the "Five Little Peppers" series of books (under the pseudonym "Margaret Sidney") and widow of publisher Daniel Lothrop. Dirty, worn, prelims foxed, but a sound, Fair copy with an interesting association.
