In "The Independent" for November 6, 1873. An anonymous report , 32 column inches in this folio newspaper, of one of Alcott's "Conversations". This one was attended by, among others, William Ellery Channing, his parents -- Dr. and Mrs. Walter Channing, Mrs. Ralph Waldo Emerson, Mr. Higginson, Miss Hinckley, Miss Parsons, Mrs. Parsons, Miss Littell, Mr. Browne, Mr. Fisher. In addition to discussions of sleep ("the Divine Being alone is truly awake") and silence ("The word stands for a fine mystery"), some time was devoted to the Hungarian republican Louis Kossuth, whose celebrated visit to Boston occurred in 1852. The complete issue, removed from a bound volume. Very Good.
