Kentfield, California: The Upstairs Press, (1977). First separate edition, second printing, 150 numbered copies of a photographic facsimile produced in the UK in 2001 by The Favil Press and Paul Evans Rare Books. Original marbled paper wrappers, printed paper label on the front, unpaginated but 15 pp. This first appeared in the (London) Times Literary Supplement for July 12, 1917. Woolf clearly expresses a great deal of admiration for Thoreau. She began writing for the Supplement in 1905 and produce a large number of articles, especially, book reviews, through March of 1937. Though two new biographies of Thoreau appeared in 1917, Franklin Sanborn's and Edward Emerson's, this relies heavily on Henry Salt's "Life of Henry Thoreau", the second edition of 1896. A Fine copy.
