Eliot was a congressman from Massachusetts, initially as a Whig, then a Free Soiler, then as one of the founding Republicans. Three autograph letters, signed, from constituents asking for favors. Two were during the civil war, one for a commission. Plus, a flyleaf removed from some book with Eliot's ownership signature dated 1831. The three letters total eight pages. Mounting stains to some edges, this material is in Good condition.
