Conway was an anti-slavery southerner, minister, and literary figure who knew almost everyone. He was intimate with Emerson and Carlyle and wrote biographies of them. He was an acolyte of Theodore Parker; he even acted as literary agent in England for Samuel Clemens. The present volume is a travel narrative. Spine cloth sunned, cloth a little spotted, label with light foxing. No wear at all. A Very Good copy.
