Boston: Copeland and Day, 1897. First edition (BAL 6742). Original green patterned cloth, gilt, edges uncut, title in red and black. William Henry Hudson's copy, his book sticker and signature dated "Stanford University, California, June, 1897". Hudson was an English teacher at Stanford who wrote "Idle Hours in a Library", "The Church and the Stage", and "Introduction to the Philosophy of Herbert Spencer". Another Stanford ownership dated 1901 and another bookplate, that of Harold Mails Bacon. Front bottom edge bumped. A Fine copy of a lovely production.
