Boston: Henry L. Devereux, 1839. First edition. Original green printed wrappers. Not in Allibone. An evaluation of the state of contemorary politics, critical of Daniel Webster. This is surprising since the author's brother, Edward, was for years the protege of Webster, shadowing him as he rose in the Whig hierarchy, and succeeding him as Secretary of State upon his death in 1852. Moderate foxing. Wrappers creased, a gouge near spine, but a Very Good copy.
Title: An Oration Delivered at Holliston, Mass. on the Fourth of July, 1839, at the Request of the Democratic Citizens of the Ninth Congressional District.
