Leather spines, raised bands, gilt-decorated, and green paper boards. The Carlyle has the preface and introduction (in German) by Goethe from the first German edition of 1830 and is Tarr's A3.6.a. Paper has flaked off of edges, rubbing to leather, paper browned, some damp-staining to some pages. Ownership signature dated 1872. A Good, sound copy.
