1 Symonds, John Addington. A Problem in Greek Ethics, Being an Inquiry into the Phenomenon of Sexual Inversion...Addressed Especially to Medical Psychologists and Jurists.

London: (no publisher), 1901. Second edition. Original green cloth, gilt. With the declaration "One Hundred Copies only of this Book have been printed (for Private Circulation), and the type has been distributed. No......". The number line is blank. Babington (470) has this in paper wrappers. This cloth binding is uniform with Babington 461, A Problem in Modern Ethics, the second edition, and has the same typography and cheap paper. Most likely there were far more than 100 of these produced. The National (U.S.) Union Catalogue alone lists 38 locations. The first edition of 10 copies was in 1883. A little rubbing, a little spotting to rear, a Fine copy.

2 Symonds, John Addington. The Escorial: A Prize Poem.

Oxford: T. and G. Shrimpton, 1860. First edition of Symond's first book (Babington, I.1) Original printed wrappers, 15 pp. At Oxford Symonds "....gained brilliant distinction, obtaining a double first class in Classics, (and) the Newdigate Prize for a poem on 'The Escorial'....." (DNB). Symonds is perhaps best known in American for his interest in Walt Whitman. Back wrapper has one creased corner, 1/4 inch chip. A Fine copy.
