1 [Dana, Charles A. Anderson. Assorted Visiting Cards and Invitations.

Six notes or note cards, in original envelopes, none bearing stamps, sending invitations to Charles Dana or responding to invitations from him, plus an empty envelope "Introducing Mr. Hayes" to Dana. In brief: A printed card announcing Mrs. G.N. Miller's "At Home" on a specific day; Mrs. Parish sends a printed invitation; Mr. Gregg, of the "U.S. Legation", sends two, one a regret and the other an acceptance; a written invitation from "Mrs. Talmadge"; Mrs. Benson writes to promote a "Raffle for the Madeira Poor". Dana was at Brook Farm, co-edited its weekly paper, "The Harbinger", and became part owner of the "New York Sun" in 1868. Most envelopes soiled, generally in Very Good condition.

2 Dana, Charles A. Anderson. Autograph letter, signed, Nov. 19, 1859, to a Mr. White.

Dear Sir, Harrodsburg should not have (been?) sent to you. It was the Kentucky place. Hoverdale and Hollidaysburg we shall want very soon; and forthem we rely on you. Yours very truly, Charles A. Dana." Dana was a Brook Farmer, editor, and owner of the New York "Sun". This may be correspondence in the course of editing, with George Ripley, "The American Cyclopedia" (16v., 1858-1863). One page, lined paper, folded for mailing. One edge roughly torn from an integral leaf with no loss, else Fine.

to R. Lyle White, Sept. 14, 1859. "Dear Sir, Will you have the kindness to correct any errors that may be found in this proof, and oblige yours very truly C.A. Dana." One page, folded three times. A Very Good letter.

I am, Dear Sir, Your very faithful servant, Charles A. Dana." A 4 x 2 1/2 inch piece neatly clipped from a letter. Very Good.

5 Dana, Charles A., Arthur Penrhyn Stanley. Contemporary Photographs on album leaf, with signatures.

Dana a cabinet size photo pasted on one side of a leaf neatly removed from an album, with a slip pasted beneath bearing his greeting: "I am, Sir, Your very obedient servant, Charles A. Dana." A contemporary hand dates it "New York Sun Office, April 28th, 1879". On the obverse is a carte de visite size photograph of Dean Stanley, with a slip pasted beneath with his signature, and dated another hand "New York, Nov. 2d, 1878." The images are nice; the Dana autograph slip a little stained. Overall, in Fine condition.
